Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

    Who is it for?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy focuses on safely re-establishing a connection to the self by completing the natural healing cycle that may have become stuck due to trauma. As part of this process, clients, with guidance from our trained therapists, bring up images, sensations, and emotions related to the negative experience. This process helps establish positive and adaptive connections in the brain that promote resolution and healing.

    How does it work?

When we experience trauma, the brain's natural ability to process information can be disrupted, resulting in the brain trapping or freezing memories in time. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (BS) to reactivate the brain’s natural processing ability and release the maladaptive material, reducing our distress and the influence of these memories.

    What are the benefits?

EMDR has been shown to produce faster results in many cases and can bypass the long and challenging process of recalling repressed emotions in the treatment of anxiety, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, nightmares, flashbacks, phobias, identity crises, depression, and dissociative disorders.

How can EMDR help me?

  • Personal empowerment

  • Decreased anxiety and hypervigilance

  • Increased self-worth and self-acceptance

  • The ability to be fully present

  • Better coping skills for managing distressing memories

  • Renewed hope for the future
